Clinton Transit Launches Blugo, Modernizing Local Transportation With Flexible Microtransit Service

ST. JOHNS, Mich— Clinton Transit is excited to announce the launch of Blugo, a new microtransit service offering affordable, reliable, on-demand transportation within the St. Johns and DeWitt service zones.

Designed to make local travel easier and more convenient, Blugo combines the dependability of public transit with the flexibility today’s riders expect. Whether traveling to work, appointments, shopping or social activities, residents can request a ride when they need it through the Clinton Transit app.

“Blugo represents the next evolution of public transportation in Clinton County,” said MaLissa Schutt, Clinton Area Transit System executive director. “We’re making it easier than ever for residents to get where they need to go with a service that is affordable, reliable and built around their schedules.”

Blugo operates Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and offers a simple fare structure of $2 per one-way trip.

Riders can book trips directly through the Clinton Transit app and, depending on vehicle availability, may be picked up in as little as 10 minutes.

To support efficient service, trips must begin and end with the same service zone. Blugo currently operates in the St. Johns and DeWitt zones. Dedicating vehicles to these service areas will improve reliability within the zones while allowing the rest of Clinton Transit’s fleet to more efficiently serve rural communities throughout Clinton County. This shift supports more reliable trips, expanded availability and improved access to essential destinations for residents outside the Blugo zones — many of whom rely on transit the most — while reinforcing Clinton Transit’s commitment to equitable countywide transportation.

Blugo was created to meet the transportation needs of today’s riders, especially those looking for an affordable alternative to driving. By reducing wait times and offering more flexible trip scheduling, the service gives residents another way to stay connected to jobs, education, appointments, services and everyday destinations.
