A Community Event for Veterans and Military Families
LANSING, Mich. — The Lansing Area Veterans Coalition (LAVC) is proud to announce Hero Fest, a free community event dedicated to honoring veterans and connecting them with the benefits, services, and local resources they have earned. The event will take place Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Alfreda Schmidt Community Center.
The event will feature Sheri Jones as emcee and will bring together local veteran-focused organizations and community partners to provide direct access to information, support programs, and services. In addition, free lunch for veteran participations has been generously donated, with organizers encouraging attendees to RSVP via Eventbrite, or by clicking here.
“This event is about more than resources – it’s about building connections and ensuring our veterans, and their families, feel supported by the community they served,” said Inetta Smith, chair of the Lansing Area Veterans Coalition and recent recipient of the Community Outreach and Engagement (CORE) award. “We want every veteran who walks through the door to leave with tools, knowledge, and a renewed sense of belonging.”
Hero Fest is designed for veterans, military families, and community partners alike, with a focus on accessibility, awareness, and creating meaningful connections.
