ST. JOHNS, MI: Clinton Transit has been awarded funding through the Michigan $15 Million Equitable Mobility Challenge Grant, a transformative initiative designed to enhance transportation access for underserved populations. This grant will enable Clinton Transit to expand services, establish a dedicated Coordination Committee, and leverage additional funding sources to support long-term mobility improvements.
- Service Expansion – Extending weekend service hours and expanding destinations beyond Clinton County to better connect residents to employment, healthcare, and community resources.
- Coordination Committee Formation – Bringing together local organizations, including healthcare providers and social service agencies, to address mobility challenges, optimize transportation resources, and secure additional funding from sources such as Medicaid and the Older Americans Act.
- Sustainable Mobility Vision – Implementing Clinton Transit’s long-term strategy to enhance regional connectivity and ensure equitable transportation access for all residents, particularly seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income households.
"This grant is a game-changer for public transit in Clinton County," said MaLissa Schutt, Executive Director of Clinton Transit. "By expanding service and strengthening coordination among community partners, we are taking a major step toward a more accessible and sustainable mobility network for our residents."
