Clinton Transit has been selected as one of only 10 projects statewide for the highly competitive Michigan Mobility Fellows (MMF) program. This recognition highlights Clinton Transit’s leadership in developing innovative mobility solutions for rural communities. The MMF program was created in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (MEDC OFME), Michigan Central, Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM), and Wayne State University as an initiative to attract and retain talent in Michigan while advancing transportation barriers across the state. All 10 fellows are recent graduates with backgrounds from all disciplines looking to advance mobility across the state of Michigan.
Through this fellowship, Clinton Transit will develop a comprehensive tool to evaluate rural transit performance metrics, ensuring efficient and effective on-demand transportation services in Clinton County. The project’s goal is to provide a scalable model that other rural transit agencies across Michigan can use to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
"Rural transit systems face unique challenges that require specialized evaluation methods," said MaLissa Schutt, Executive Director of Clinton Transit. "By creating a standardized approach to measuring service performance, we can enhance transportation accessibility, optimize operations, and better serve our communities."
CEDAM, the program administrator and manager, emphasizes the importance of supporting innovative transit solutions in Michigan’s evolving mobility landscape. "The Michigan Mobility Fellows Program is designed to empower local transit agencies with the resources and expertise needed to address mobility challenges," said Melvin Henley, MI Mobility Fellows Program Manager. "Clinton Transit’s project will provide valuable insights for improving rural transit efficiency, benefiting communities across the state."
The 15-month program provides fellows an opportunity to make a significant impact on the mobility landscape in Michigan. CEDAM, Clinton Transit and partners look forward to witnessing the innovative solutions and advancements that will emerge from this talented group. MMF supports forward-thinking projects that tackle critical mobility needs statewide.
