Ahead of October 10 Special Commission Meeting
ST. JOHNS, MI: The Wilson Center project in St. Johns has generated significant community interest since last September, when the City Commission approved a purchase agreement for a portion of the historic building. At the Commission’s Special Meeting on September 12, 2023, City Manager Chad Gamble and a representative from Dymaxion Development presented detailed information about the project, and residents were invited to share their questions. On September 26th, the City provided answers to all questions posed during and after the meeting on their website.
“It is excellent to see so many residents engaged in the conversation about the Wilson Center,” says Gamble. “We received thoughtful questions at the September 12 meeting and had a period of time when residents could submit them via email. We hope the answers are helpful for residents and demonstrate our commitment to providing clarity and transparency.”
The questions received were divided into two separate groups: first, inquiries regarding the development agreement documents, operational questions or taxation questions. The answers to these questions are provided on the City’s website. The second group of questions required more opinion-based answers. The Commission commented on these inquiries at the regular Commission meeting on September 25, 2023. The link to the meeting recording is also available online.
Next, the City Commission will hold another special meeting on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 6 p.m., at the Police Headquarters Building (409 S. Whittemore St.) to consider approving the legal documents to move forward with the Wilson Center project. Please see the City’s website for information related to the agenda and documents being considered before the City Commission.
